Psychological and Counselling Service

To provide you with the highest standard of psychological / psychotherapy care, personal and health information that is relevant to your current situation will be recorded.

Confidentiality

All Confidential Information gathered by your psychologist / psychotherapist / counsellor during the provision of psychological / psychotherapy service will remain confidential and secure except when:

  • a court subpoenas it;
  • if failure to disclose the information would place you or another person at risk;
  • or your prior approval has been obtained to exchange information and provide written reports to another professional or agency e.g. a GP or a lawyer, or discuss the material with another person.

Details of your Confidential Information will only be discussed with your psychiatrist, GP or another referral source (e.g. WorkCover) to provide a multidisciplinary treatment for you. Your psychologist / psychotherapist may also consult with a senior clinician at the practice or discuss your care in supervision to optimise interventions offered to you.

When it comes to dealing with Confidential Information your psychologist / psychotherapist / counsellor needs to ensure it remains confidential and to comply with our Privacy Policy and the Australian Privacy

Principles. However, if your psychologist / psychotherapist / counsellor leaves our practice they may request your Confidential Information. Your psychologist / psychotherapist / counsellor can only make this request in certain circumstances which includes a government audit, in relation to a legal claim or to comply with the law. However, they cannot disclose your Confidential Information unless and until you agree that it can be released. Further, we may elect not to release the Confidential Information if it has been requested in circumstances other than those listed above. Your psychologist / psychotherapist / counsellor can only use the Confidential Information in the agreed circumstances and disclose it to a third party on a need-to-know basis. Please note your psychologist / psychotherapist / counsellor is required to ensure the Confidential Information is kept confidential and to destroy or delete it once it is no longer needed.

Concerns about the management of personal information

If you have a concern about the management of your personal information, please do not hesitate to ask.

The national privacy principles (www.privacy.gov.au), describes your rights and how your information should be handled. If you wish to make a formal complaint about the management of your personal information, you may do so with the Office of the Federal Privacy Commissioner on 1300 363 992.

Privacy in online communications

The privacy of any form of communication via the internet or a mobile device is potentially vulnerable and limited by the security of the technology. Zoom Video Conference has multi-layer security and end-to-end encryption. Zoom Video Conference only transmits the encrypted information; it never has access to your health information.

Please be aware that you are responsible for any costs incurred in the provision of your own software, hardware and data usage associated with this telehealth service.

The requirement to provide contact details and location

As you will mainly be working together by videoconference, your psychologist / psychotherapist will need to be able to contact support people in your locality should any issues arise. Please provide the names and contact details of your GP and at least two emergency contacts before you commence the treatment. Because you may be in varied locations for each of the videoconferences, your psychologist / psychotherapist will require you to provide your location at the start of each session.

Use of therapy session materials

Your psychologist / psychotherapist will not make recordings of the sessions or use material from the sessions for purposes other than delivering a service to you. Your psychologist / psychotherapist will ask you to respect their privacy by agreeing not to make recordings of the sessions and not to use materials from the sessions for purposes other than therapy. If you wish to record sessions or use session material for other purposes, you must seek consent from Mind Up Psychology to do so.

Medicare and Private Health Insurance Policies

In accordance with Medicare policy guidelines, Medicare rebates are only available for eligible clients who currently and permanently reside in a rural or remote area (eligibility rules have been specified by Medicare and should be discussed with the clinic prior to your first session).

Otherwise, you are eligible for a rebate from Medicare under your Mental Health Care Plan provided by your GP / Specialist.

Some private health funds will cover part of the cost of telehealth consultations and it is the responsibility of the client to check their eligibility prior to their first session. Private health insurance claims are the responsibility of the client and will not be processed by this clinic.

Fee and Cancellation Policy

Please note that it is your responsibility to manage your appointment times. We will send you a courtesy email reminder prior to your appointment so please keep your details updated.

An initial appointment confirmation via email will be sent through during initial booking for further details.

General Session with a Psychologist Consultation Fees

The cost of a 50 min consultation is $240. Payment must be made prior to consultation.

General Session with a Provisional Psychologist or Psychotherapist Consultation Fees

The cost of a 50 min consultation is $150. Payment must be made prior to consultation.

Couples Therapy Fees

The cost of a 60 min consultation is $200 and 90 min consultation is $280. Payment must be made prior to consultation.

Family Therapy Fees

The cost of a 60 min consultation is $250 and 90 min consultation is $300. Payment must be made prior to consultation.

Psychological Assessment Fees

The cost of the psychological assessment is dependent with the type of assessment that is conducted by the Psychologist:

  1. ASD – $2,500
  2. ADHD (Brief) – $1,000
  3. ASD/ Cog – $3,000
  4. ADHD / Cog – $3,000
  5. Cog / ADHD/ ASD – $4,000
  6. Comprehensive – 2,5000

An initial non-refundable payment of $1,000 is required within 24hrs from booking to secure the appointment. And the remaining balance will have to be settled prior to the report writing time for the assessment.

Insurance Related (TAC / Workcover) Sessions

Full fee $240 / 50min is payable and a rebate will be processed by TAC / Workcover directly to the claimant.

NDIS Consultation Fees

The session fee for NDIS 50min psychology service is $214.41 (including GST) and $141.96 for NDIS 50min counselling service.

The invoice will be emailed directly to the plan manager..

Please contact your plan manager to discuss coverage for the Psychological session before your first session.

Rebates

Rebates from Medicare and most private health funds are available. Please contact Medicare or your private health fund to discuss rebates for Psychologists before your first session. If you have a referral from a psychiatrist or paediatrician or a GP mental health care plan, please email a copy of the referral prior to your first appointment to be eligible for a Medicare rebate.

All Psychotherapy sessions and sessions with the Provisional Psychologists are not eligible for Medicare rebates.

Bulk Billing Service

Mind Up is not a bulk billing clinic. We can however refer you to Head to Help.

Digital Payments Information

Your confidential credit card details will be securely stored in Medipass for all future visits.

Medipass is a digital health payment system for processing health fund and Medicare claims without the use of a terminal. Medipass is committed to the maintenance, security and privacy of personal data for the healthcare industry.
